How safe is safe enough?

April 27, 2023

The World Day for Safety and Health at Work is celebrated globe over on the 28th of April, and it is a good opportunity to address this topic.

Probably like never before we see large-scale infrastructure projects booming across continents. Field-intensive industries like construction, telecommunications, or energy, seem to be racing with developments. We witness entire new cities being built, massive 5G and fiber network rollouts, or solar and wind plants being constructed. Again, unprecedented in scale, we see people moving and relocating across the world to work on these projects.

Sophisticated technologies, imaginative architectural wonders, smart cities, and others, all come down to the skills of field workers and their efficiency. It is their effort that must be appreciated, and what better way to do so than by taking care of their well-being and safety while delivering these complex projects?

Over the past decade or so, we’ve seen how contemporary technologies have positively disrupted various aspects of our work environments, improving efficiency, and automating processes, resulting in more, better, faster, and bigger.

We at CloseOut want to work safer as well. Safer for those who climb, those who go under, who hang, who dig, who connect, who execute…

The Health and Safety module is an essential part of our fieldwork service management solution. Everything begins with it and compliance with Health and Safety checks is a prerequisite for the fieldwork to commence. CloseOut enables you to share instructions and exemplary photographs with your field teams, so they know exactly what to do and which measures to undertake for the highest standards of safety. The system will raise the warning if, within a certain set time, an employee did not undergo the H&S procedure. To perform checks efficiently, we use Artificial Intelligence which we train to recognize hard hats, vests, belts, and other field-specific equipment. Unless everything is compliant, AI will deny permission and issue the alarm notification. Moreover, we’ve trained AI for site hygiene and hazard prevention to furthermore enhance the safety of the workplace. In a way, it’s a human touch supported by technology.

With all this, we aim to raise awareness of how important safety is and want to embed that into every field process, regardless of the industry, and without compromise. By deploying state-of-the-art technology across international markets, we at CloseOut want to improve the overall process, want to help companies help their employees who are in the field, sometimes in hostile and harsh environments.

Caring for employees is caring for the project and for the clients, too. Skillful employees in safe surroundings will deliver efficiently and in a quality manner while staying loyal to the company that pays attention and cares. And rightly so. When it comes to Health and Safety, doing everything we can is the least we can do.
